THE SWISS TECH TOUR 2003: 29 high-tech companies presented to global investors! Geneva, March 14, 2003 – The European Tech Tour Association held its 11th Tech Tour on March 5-7, 2003 in Switzerland (Zurich, Neuchatel, Lausanne & Geneva). The event was made possible by the generous support of sponsors such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Apax Partners, Vision Capital, Sofinnova Partners, Venture Partners, Fortune Magazine, TIME Magazine, Arthur D. Little, Bär & Karrer, Endeavour, Index Ventures, and VI Partners. For the first time, the Tour returned in a country where it already held a tech tour in 1998. A considerable number of this year’s delegates already participated in 1998 and thus confirm the quality of this unique concept. 29 of the most successful and promising Swiss high-tech companies presented to more than 60 Venture Capitalists coming from eight countries during an attractive and busy program. Among the conference locations visited, were the Technopark and the Swiss Exchange (SWX) in Zurich, the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM) in Neuchâtel, the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva. Companies were even presenting to the delegates during various city transfers to maximize time. For example, presentations were given in an attractive conference vehicle of the SBB from Zurich to Neuchatel, as well as in the excursion boat "Henry Dunant" on the way from Lausanne to Geneva. The presenting companies were reviewed and chosen by a local Selection Committee. Among others, this committee consisted of successful Venture Capitalists and entrepreneurs such as Max Burger-Calderon, Peter Ohnemus and Martin Velasco. Out of the 300 applicants, some companies raised special attention. Second to none Xitact, a company focused on high-tech medical devices but also Spectraseis, the winner of the entrepreneur's-contest "Innovation'03" with new methods for the mineral oil search. Thus, Jan Bomholt, President of the Swiss Tech Tour 2003 and Managing Partner of BrainsToVentures AG pointed out: “With the Tech Tour we were able to initiate a significant impulse for the Swiss high-tech scene and were able to present Swiss variety and innovation capacity!” The next Tech Tour will take place June 18-20, 2003 in Italy. St. Gallen / Genf, 07.02.2003 – Die diesjährige Swiss Tech Tour wird von der European Tech Tour Association gemeinsam mit der BrainsToVentures AG (b-to-v) vom 05. bis zum 07. März 2003 als rollende Konferenz von Zürich über Neuchâtel nach Genf veranstaltet. Mittlerweile haben sich schon 270 Unternehmen um die Teilnahme an der Swiss Tech Tour beworben – 20 hieraus ausgewählte Schweizer Technologie-Unternehmen dürfen an der Tour teilnehmen. An ausgewählten Orten, wie der SWX Swiss Exchange in Zürich, dem CERN in Genf und sogar in einem Konferenzwagen der SBB werden während dieser zweitägigen Konferenz die CEO’s ihr Unternehmen den 60 herausragenden Akteuren der europäischen Beteiligungswirtschaft als Investitionsmöglichkeit vorstellen. Das Auswahlkomitee, bestehend aus bekannten Persönlichkeiten wie Martin Velasco, Member of the Board of Telefonica (1997-2000) und Business Angel, Peter Ohnemus, Chairman und CEO, The e-Firm und Max Burger-Calderon, Managing Partner, Apax Partners, wird am 12. Februar 2003 in Bern letztmalig zusammenkommen, um die Entscheidung zu fällen, welche Unternehmen dieses Jahr zu den 20 vielversprechendsten Schweizer Unternehmen aus den Bereichen Hightech und IT sein werden. Herr Daniel Borel, Gründer der Logitech Inc., dem weltweit grössten Hersteller von ComputerPeripherie-Gäreten, hat als Keynote-Speaker zur abendlichen Auftaktveranstaltung am 05. März 2003 in Zürich, bei der die rund 100 Business-Angels der „Schweizer Investorengespräche“ sowie 80 ausgewählte Gäste eingeladen sind, zugesagt. Schon mehrmals nahm Herr Borel an Tech Tour Events teil, u.a. an der Schwedischen Tech Tour 1999, wo sich ein Unternehmen präsentierte, welches einen digitalen Stift herstellt. Heute wird dieser Stift unter der Marke „Logitech io® Personal Digital Pen“ europaweit vermarktet. „Gerade in dieser Zeit ist es wichtig, ein positives Marktsignal sowohl für Jungunternehmen als auch für Business-Angels und Venture Capitalists zu setzen. Le compte à rebours a commencé: Le Swiss Tech Tour 2003, le plus important évènement technologique Suisse de 2003. St Gall / Genève, 07.02.2003 – L’ European Tech Tour Association en conjonction avec BrainsToVentures AG (b-to-v) organisent du 5 au 7 mars le Swiss Tech Tour 2003. Cette conférence, sponsorisée par PricewaterhouseCoopers, Vision Capital, Sofinnova Partners, Index Ventures, Venture Partners, Fortune Magazine, TIME Magazine, Rezonance et Selly’s, se déplacera sur plusieurs sites de Zurich à Genève en passant par Neuchâtel et Lausanne. Pour la première fois de son histoire le Tech Tour revisite un pays, puisque c’est en Suisse en 1998 qu’avait eu lieu la première version de cet évènement. Une vingtaine d’entreprises suisses sélectionnées parmi 270 dans le domaine du Hightech et du IT présenteront leurs projets dans divers lieux tels que le SWX Swiss Exchange à Zurich, le CERN à Genève ou même en train, dans des wagons CFF loués au conseil fédéral et aménagés pour y tenir des conférences. Les entrepreneurs s’adresseront à une audience de 60 invités sélectionnés parmi les plus actifs investisseurs européens. Le comité de sélection du Swiss Tech Tour se reunira une dernière fois ce 12 Février 2003 à Berne afin de sélectioner les 20-25 companies hightech les plus prometteuses. Le comité de sélection est composé de 20 personalités notoires du monde technologique Suisse dont par example, Martin Velasco, business angel et membre du Board de Telefonica (1997-2000), Peter Ohnemus chairman et CEO du e-firm et Max Burger-Calderon, managing partner chez Apax partners. Daniel Borel, fondateur de Logitech Inc., le premier constructeur mondial de périphérique de PC, sera un des principaux conférenciers.
