Established in 1997 we are widely recognised as the leading organisation and national centre of expertise in our field. scottish opera Connect Company Scottish Opera’s Connect Company – young singers and players aged between 14 and 21 – perform an excerpt from their 4* production, Dr Calligari. Specially-written by composer Karen MacIver and librettist Allan Dunn for the Connect Company, the piece is based on the 1920s German horror film Das Cabinet des Dr Caligari, and tells a dark and twisted story where both friends and minds may be lost. Scottish Opera believes passionately that opera’s unique blend of music, singing and theatre is a fabulous, life-affirming experience that should be nurtured for future generations to enjoy. We do this by presenting stunning opera performances in venues large and small all over Scotland. We invest in socially inclusive outreach and education work to benefit communities throughout Scotland and develop new audiences. We help young singers at the start of their careers. nYCos national girls Choir NYCoS National Girls Choir, led by world-renowned conductor Christopher Bell, is part of the National Youth Choir of Scotland, the organisation dedicated to encouraging singing for young people aged 0-25. Chosen from Scotland’s best young female singing talent, the choir demonstrates a freshness of voice and unrivalled diction that receives consistent praise. Performing regularly throughout Scotland, NYCoS National Girls Choir has been invited to sing at world-class music festivals including BBC Proms in the Park, Edinburgh International Festival, Aberdeen International Youth Festival and Lammermuir Festival. The choir has released three commercial CDs to date, on the Signum label, all of which were critically acclaimed. ConCert IT Concert (royal Conservatoire of scotland) (sCotlanD, uK) Tonight’s screening of the iconic 1927 silent movie IT playing with live orchestra, is a culmination of months of collaboration between young musicians from North and South Lanarkshire schools and members of the Junior Royal Conservatoire who have had the privilege of working with Patrick Doyle and his team of professionals learning the complexities of playing for a film. The young people have committed to an intense programme of weekend rehearsals where they have been coached by Bernard Docherty, former co-leader of the BBC scottish symphony orchestra, patrick Doyle and James shearman who will be conducting them tonight. Patrick, who hails from Uddingston, has been the inspiration for this project and is keen to promote the opportunities that the world of Film and TV can provide for young people. “It is extremely important to me that young Scottish people will be performing for an International audience at the ISME Conference. I come from South Lanarkshire, which gave me tremendous musical opportunities that I have built upon throughout my film composing career. Hopefully the IT project will inspire this new generation.” patrick Doyle Patrick Doyle is a classically trained composer. He graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now known as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) in 1975 and was made a Fellow in 2001. Patrick has been commissioned to score over 50 international feature films, including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Brave, Gosford Park, Sense and Sensibility, Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Carlito’s Way and more recently he has completed work on the music for Walt Disney’s live action version of Cinderella and Whisky Galore which premiered on the closing night of the Edinburgh Film Festival this month. His work has led to collaborations with some of the most acclaimed directors in the world (such as) including Ang Lee, Robert Altman, Alfonso Cuaron and Sir Kenneth Branagh. Patrick has received one BAFTA, two Oscar, two César and two Golden Globe nominations, as well as winning the 1989 32nd ISME World Conference on Music Education

tower singers (uniteD states) Tower Singers is a co-ed mixed choir from The Masters School, a premiere day and boarding high school 20 miles north of New York City. This advanced choral group sings classical and contemporary repertoire in a variety of languages and is one of three academic choirs and nine academic ensembles. The ensemble’s curriculum, which focuses on individual and group musicianship and vocal technique, is used as a tool for forging connections with other people at a time in life when students are navigating the process of defining self. Students are exposed to advanced sightreading, musical literacy, and vocal techniques as discrete subjects as well as in context. Dobbs 16 (uniteD states) Dobbs 16 is a Co-ed contemporary a cappella ensemble from The Masters School, a private day and boarding high school in Westchester County, NY. This advanced choral group sings popular music in 6 to 8 parts and is one of three academic choirs and one of nine academic music ensembles at Masters. The ensemble’s curriculum focuses on individual and group musicianship and vocal technique as vehicles for expanding human connections, interpersonal understanding, and self-knowledge. oakton six piano ensemble (uniteD states) The Oakton Six Piano Ensemble, conducted by Glenna Sprague, Professor/ Coordinator of Music at Oakton Community College, is comprised of adult students, selected through a rigorous audition process at the college. Performing with a conductor, the rich, layered sound of the Ensemble is comparable to an orchestra, with each member playing a different part of the composition as the melody transfers from pianist to pianist. They perform classical, ragtime and popular repertoire arranged for six pianos. The Ensemble has performed both internationally and throughout the United States. howling Wolves (englanD, uK) The Howling Wolves (aka the University of Wolverhampton Semi-Chorus) is an undergraduate ensemble that performs an eclectic programme of music reflecting the particular likes and tastes of its members, including classical, pop, church, gospel and contemporary music. The ensemble performs regularly in the West Midlands for university and community functions and it is currently recording tracks for an OUP Voiceworks publication. Canticum Choir (south Korea) The word “Canticum” means “Song of Joy” in Latin. The Canticum Choir, founded in 1996, has been playing various church music from traditional mass to Negro spirituals. The Canticum Choir, based in Seoul, South Korea, has been sincerely studying church music, and always trying to become a valuable stepping stone for Korean Christian culture by offering inspirational music through challenging repertoires and proactive concerts. Benjamin Britten Hymn to St Cecilia, Op. 27 A setting of a poem by W. H. Auden written between 1940 and 1942. Auden’s original title was “Three Songs for St. Cecilia’s Day”, and he later published the poem as “Anthem for St. Cecilia’s Day (for Benjamin Britten)”. Samuel Barber Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) This is a choral composition in one movement by Samuel Barber, his own arrangement of his Adagio for Strings (1936). In 1967, he set the Latin words of the liturgical Agnus Dei, a part of the Mass, for mixed chorus accompanied with piano. The music, in b-flat minor, has a duration of about eight minutes. Kevin A. Memley Ave Maria This is a beautiful piece in melody and form, but what stands out even more is how composer Kevin Memley has used the voice to orchestrate the piece. Programmatic effects are tastefully incorporated into the musical structure of the composition. tettix music group (greeCe) In order for our students to acquire experiences as music creators as well as performers we have chosen to work on the opera genre as it brings together all the elements for a wider musical exercise. Students of different ages and levels of study can participate without being classified by their skills and talent. They are fully responsible for the realization of each play: they compose melodies and lyrics (libretto), harmonize, sing (choir, arias and recitativo) and present their play on stage both as musicians and as performers, thus approaching all different areas of music involved:skill development (psychomotor), cognitive (knowledge acquisition) and, last but not least, emotional (enjoyment of music and sensitivity). Tettix was created, is directed and taught by the music educator and music instructor Teti Aivatzidou at Rizopoulou Concervatory. Up to now, Tettix have presented three opera performances: The Princess Diskoloula, Stonesoup, and The Little Prince. The performance is held under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture. Big noise raploch symphony orchestra (sCotlanD, uK) The Raploch Senior Symphony Orchestra is the flagship ensemble of Big Noise Raploch. The orchestra was established in 2010 and has since grown to an ensemble of over 55 players aged 9 to 18. As well as giving regular concerts in Stirling and around Scotland – notably at the opening of the new Big Noise centre in Torry, Aberdeen – the orchestra has also toured to Venezuela, performed with the Simón Bolivar Symphony Orchestra under Gustavo Dudamel as part of the London 2012 cultural olympiad and performed during the open ceremony of the commonwealth games in 2014. heaDline ConCert palestine Youth orchestra (palestine) The Palestine Youth Orchestra was established in 2004 by the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, with the vision of bringing together young Palestinian musicians from around the world as one ensemble. Over its first decade, the PYO has performed throughout the Middle East and Europe. It has recently appeared at festivals such as Ravello, Florence, Beiteddine and Aix-en-Provence and performed at venues such as the Teatro San Carlo (Genoa), CRR Paris, Megaron Mousikis (Athens) and the Grand-Théâtre de Provence. It has recently worked with conductors such as Sian Edwards, Nicolas Simon and Tom Hammond and appeared with soloists including Marcel Khalife, Dima Bawab, Reem Talhami, Mariam Tamari, Mayas Al Yamani, Mohamed Najem, Saleem Aboud-Ashkar and many others. About the Programme: In 2013 the Palestine Strings performed at the Proms to a sell-out audience and unanimous acclaim in the British press. Now its sister ensemble the Palestine Youth Orchestra brings a musical programme featuring Arabic songs from Egypt and Lebanon alongside contemporary British music, Beethoven and Mussorgsky’s much loved musical interpretation of an art gallery. Dalcroze a Cappella (uniteD KingDom) The nucleus of the group was formed at a Dalcroze UK Summer School last August when the graphic score opening of ‘The Flight of Song’ was taken as a starting point for a music and movement workshop. This culminated in a performance of the piece in the presence of the composer, Howard Skempton, who was delighted with the innovative approach taken to his piece. All the members are trained in Dalcroze Eurhythmics and bring with them an interest in exploring repertoire through movement and vocal improvisation. This piece is a perfect gift for us! Repertoire: Skempton’s “The Flight of Song” for SATB chorus is a setting of a compilation of imaginative, simple, expressive poetry in four short movements. The music illuminates the text by adopting its natural rhythms and the harmonic simplicity of the outer movement creates a sense of transparency, in contrast to the inner two movements, which are of a more chromatic nature. The work opens with a free poetic collage, improvised from a graphic score. Doug Johnson (uniteD states) Doug Johnson is Associate Professor of Piano at the Berklee College of Music. As a pianist, Doug has performed throughout Europe and the US at major venues and Jazz Festivals, including Ronnie Scott’s in London, Porgy and Bess in Vienna and Birdland in New York City. As an educator and expert in the area of Musician’s Health, Doug has presented at major conferences including multiple PAMA (Performing Arts Medicine Association) conferences. Recently Doug has been in residence teaching at the University of Graz, Austria; the University of Brasilia, Brazil and has also taught intensive courses in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Doug is the recipient of the 2015 Berklee College, Newbury Comics Faculty Fellowship Grant. Dulcemelos Duet (mexiCo) The Dulcemelos Duet consists of Alejandra Barrientos and Héctor Larios who play respectively the psaltery and piano. They have dedicated themselves to preserving the traditional Mexican music and works written specifically for the psaltery. Their purpose is to promote through didactic and chamber concerts, the study of the psaltery especially amongst the children. They have recorded fifteen compact discs, organized three national and international festivals and travelled extensively throughout the Mexican Republic, the United States and much of Europe. Hector and Alexandra are qualified music educators who studied in the UAQ (Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro). They have worked in the early music stimulation field with children from 2 months old to 7 years old, and then gone on to educate adolescents. australia east and West (australia) Australia East and West is a project of 10 newly composed Australian compositions for viola and piano, most of them composer by women composers. Seven works have been performed, five recorded for a commercial CD, plus three lecture-recitals given in four Australian cities. The lectures focus on issues emerging from the rehearsal, performing and recording process through a practice-led research paradigm. The viola remains the ‘Cinderella’ of the string family, and this project is resulting in new works for the growing number of Australian violists as well as providing important new repertoire for violists overseas. This fosters national and international interest in Australian contemporary classical music. Repertoire: Clare Maclean In the Sea Paths ‘In the sea paths’ is a phrase from the Anglo-Saxon poem, the Seafarer. The poem’s imagery of sea paths as paths of life resonates with symbolism of the sea as the soul or the subconscious in literature and mythology. In this piece melodic paths begin in a fragmentary way and emerge more completely as the piece progresses, with the coming and going of motivic eddies. Cat Hope The Sinister Glamour of Modernity (after Ross Gibson) This piece for piano and viola, dedicated to Dawn Bennett, explores ways of tracing memory. Can the things that happen in a place or time be somehow recoded or remember if there is no ‘physical’ evidence of them? Using the performers’ musical ears to identify and trace each other’s pitch and dynamic choices, this work uses the concept of the sustained note as a possible memory etch. Diana Blom Waltzing with Elling Waltzing with Elling is a tribute to American jazz singer Kurt Elling and jazz bass player Rob Amster. The waltz seeks to capture some of the characteristics of ‘The Waking’, a song for voice and double bass from the CD Nightmoves (2007), which sets a poem by American poet Theodore Roethke. Ceol oirghialla (irelanD) Comprising faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate students drawn from the DkIT community, the Ceol Oirghialla Traditional Music Ensemble embraces and presents the rich musical traditions of the Oriel region of Ireland in performances for global audiences. The study of traditional music is an integral component of both our undergraduate and postgraduate music programmes at DkIT and a particular emphasis is placed on performance. Over the past two years, the Ensemble has toured to North and South America, including performances at ISME 2014. Performing groups from DkIT also broadcast as part of the CIRCOM European Broadcasting Awards hosted by RTÉ in 2015. hwaseong City Boys & girls Choir (south Korea) Hwaseong City Boys & Girls Choir was established in 2004 as a cultural delegation delivering the value of love for mankind to the whole world. With a membership of 90 members aged 12 years old, the choir holds about 20 regional concerts every year. The choir visited Kenya and set up a sisterhood relationship with Jirani Children’s Choir organized by Slum Children of Kenya, Africa 2011. During the visit they fulfilled love for mankind through concerts. They have also had a successful exchange performances with Nagoya Children Art Company (2012) and Korean Boys & Girls Choir of Beijing (2015). They have appeared in various concerts such as the Nanpa Memorial concert and the Country Love concert. The project has extended to 3 regional-choirs (Dongtan, Hyangnam, Namyang in Korea) and contributed to the development of regional choir culture. The choir communicates with the world by the regional society through the various stages such as children’s song, folk song, art song, religious song, and various stages that Korean traditional culture of ancient dance and Nanta were succeeded and developed. Seong-moon Shin, with his unique interpersonal skills and warm personality, is a conductor best suited for the role, where he can discover and create the beauty of the voices of the boys and girls choir. He graduated from Hyupsung University, majoring in vocal performance, and went on to study conducting at Westminster University and Yale University in the US and Kodaly Institute in Hungary. He is currently studying conducting for master’s degree at Hyupsung University. To Mr Shin, communication is the mechanism that allows one person to face another one as human being. He builds his musical foundation with relationships and challenges new and creative ideas without fear. He led Jirani Children’s Choir in Kenya, Africa. Crecer Cantando Crecer soñando (spain) Crecer Cantando, Crecer Soñando is a musical project in which four different Spanish schools contribute with their own choir to make a big one. Its schools are located in different cities and are ruled by different educational regimes: a private music school, two secondary schools and a conservatoire. The singers range from ten to eighteen years old, while the musicians and the production team are long-time professionals. Currently we have approx. 150 members, including singers, musicians, producers and sound technicians. Crecer Cantando is like a big puzzle where everybody works independently, but coordinated around an artistic project and encouraged thanks to a common dream. Repertoire: We present an extract of our show “Dos Mundos”, a concert with songs composed especially for it. The texts are written by Carmen Gil, Andalusian poet and the music is written by Javier Campaña, composer and Professor of the Project, Crecer Cantando. “We do not want to give up our dreams and we need to sing to the Europe we dream, the Europe of people. We need a change, a new paradigm that places women and men of the continent in the epicenter, that turns competitiveness into cooperation, individualism into mutual support, injustice into equality; in short, to make effective the values of democracy. Every change involves a movement and we aim for the commitment and teamwork”. The songs are composed from the meaning of the poems, exploring various compositional styles and playing with different moods and energies. heaDline ConCert national Youth orchestra of scotland (nYos) (sCotlanD, uK) Now in its fourth season, the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland Senior Orchestra is for musicians aged 13 and over. It has become the established second stage orchestra on the classical pathway for aspiring members of NYOS Symphony Orchestra and a critically acclaimed performing ensemble in its own right. This year we explore dance in orchestral form: Wagner’s Dance of the Apprentices seems pleasantly appropriate, while the passions of Bernstein’s modern-day Romeo and Juliet form the core of our summer work, alongside a new work from Oliver Searle, arranged specially for the Orchestra. After a great success with Glazunov two years ago, we perform the ballet music to Raymonda and pay tribute to Tchaikovsky, surely one of the finest of all ballet composers. the orchestra of unlimited potential (englanD, uK) The Orchestra of Unlimited Potential (UP!) is one of the UK’s first ever county youth orchestras set up specifically for young musicians with special educational needs and disabilities. Within its first year UP! has had many achievements, including a ground breaking performance at the Royal Albert Hall in May 2015, and an international collaboration and performance at a national music education conference in London, June 2015. UP! is delighted to be showcasing a brand new piece of original music at the ISME World Conference 2016 as well as incorporating a short workshop/demonstration into their performance to give delegates an insight into the approaches that have made the project such a success. ifCKiDs Children’s Chorus/ifCC (China) IFCKIDS Children’s Chorus was founded in 2013 under the IFCKIDS platform. Lucy Luo, Founder of IFCKIDS, holds the baton herself to train the chorus. She has quickly built up a good repertoire with Chinese and western masterpieces, and the chorus had its debut after 8 rehearsals. In May 2014, the Chorus has been invited to join the IFC Chorus (SATB) & Orchestra in their Mozart Requiem concert to sing the “Street Boy Chorus” from Carmen with the symphony orchestra. In the summer of 2014, the Chorus visited the rural area in Guizhou Province and song with the tribe “Dong Singers”, the UN named Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Chorus was also invited by Landes Musik Akademie Hessen to visit Germany in Fall 2014. Its overseas debut gained a big success followed by 4 German newspaper coverage and one whole-page feature story by Chinese nation-wide leading media “Beijing Youth Daily”. In 2015-16 music season, the Chorus had joined the debut of Production Cantata by Xian Xinghai in China and performed with organist Yuan Shen at Forbidden Concert Hall at Christmas Eve Concert. Vollgas Connected (germanY) The Music School Fürth’s unique Project in Germany “Berufung Musiker” (Profession Musician) where young people with intellectual disabilities have the chance of an apprenticeship as musicians has been tremendously successful. The band “Vollgas”, who participated in the first flight, has become one of the most wanted bands in Germany since its foundation in the Year 2009. Amongst other triumphs they rocked the Bavarian Parliament, the Bavarian State Chancellery, the Federal Congress of the Music Schools (VdM) and they even played for the German Parliament in Berlin. The very best of inclusion. “Vollgas” is none the less not a closed circuit band but plays with other groups of different types, whether it be pupils, teachers or other ensembles of the Music School professional musicians like the renowned group Quadro Nuevo. Since 2010 “Vollgas” plays regularly with the Music School ensemble “Flugs” under the name “Vollgas connected”. Joint working groups at weekends and during concert tours throughout the Federal Republic, normally accompanied by pupils of the Hallemann School – a school for special needs in Fürth – have helped the young scholars to become a collective which is second to none. They inspire each other, learning from and with each other. They cause during their performances, due to their musical capabilities and their very apparent joy of the music, the outbreak of high emotions and rapturous applause in the audience. The teaching methods as well as the teaching materials which have been developed in our school are looked upon as being ground breaking by many institutions for advanced education and universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. sonic Bothy ensemble (sCotlanD, uK) Sonic Bothy Ensemble is an award-winning inclusive, new music ensemble that explores, composes and performs experimental and contemporary music; a group of musicians, with and without additional support needs. We create original collaboratively composed free/fixed music for voice, harpsichord, harmonium, piano, strings, electronics, percussion. Influences span improvisation, aleatoricism, minimalism, contemporary, musicals, electroacoustic music. In great demand as a pianist, he has performed with Thad Jones, Pepper Adams, Red Mitchell, Etta Cameron, Enrico Rava, Tim Hagans, Georgie Fame and David Liebman. Caleb Chapman’s Crescent super Band (uniteD states) Organised in 2001, the Crescent Super Band has frequently been hailed as one of the best professional bands in the world to be comprised entirely of young musicians. With a youthful energy and nearly unbelievable performance level, the band has performed their hip, intelligent big band arrangements for thousands. While the ensemble has been featured at many of the world’s most prominent music festivals, their crowning performance was a headlining debut at a packed Carnegie Hall in 2013. In 2015 they made their debut in Cuba at Havana’s “Fiesta Del Tambor”, as well as opened for Journey at the Stadium of Fire event for a crowd of well over 40,000. The Crescent Super Band has caught the attention of many of today's top artists as well. Since its inception the band has performed with over two hundred guest artists including GRAMMY-winners David Sanborn, Gordon Goodwin, Joe Lovano, Esperanza Spalding, Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, Eric Marienthal, Futureman, Dave Weckl, Bob Mintzer, Ernie Watts, Peter Erskine, and Dave Samuels. francesco Banchini & Baqshish (italY) Francesco Banchini is a talented musician, even if his main instrument is the clarinet. He plays the guitar, piano, percussions and different wind instruments from the flute to different traditional wind instruments of the Middle-East and Eastern Europe. He started playing the clarinet with the Band of Pozzuoli, his home town, at the age of six. At the age of fourteen he started attending the Conservatory of S. Pietro a Majella of Naples, to graduate six years after with a lot of sacrifices and hard work with the highest grade. From 1989 to 1995 he has an intense live activity and starts composing his own music while participating in classical music contests, as a soloist and with a clarinet trio called “Dicearchia”. Francesco has been playing and composing many different musical styles and this shows his incredible curiosity in experimenting, studying historical periods and traditional world music. In 1999, he starts collaborating with the musical group called “Ataraxia”, playing various instruments in their live concerts. In the same year Francesco and other friends create a musical group called “Mescla” that tours in all of Europe doing street concerts and collaborating with circuses, dancers, fire eaters creating a show which brought the spectator to laugh, be surprised and smile because of the energy and unity the group expressed. The music was fundamentally a rearrangement of traditional music of the south of Italy, North African music, and with Rom musicians music from the East of Europe. The Medieval period has always been a fascinating historical period for Francesco and studies the melodies, the instruments and the sacred texts of this period. This alchemy makes him compose medieval music and in 1999 and in 2000, Francesco is the artist director of the Medieval Festival in Campania, held in Casaluce a small town in the hinterland of Naples. Repertoire: The music is a mixture from traditional of South of Italy, Mediterranean, Oriental & Balka. the turksoy Youth Chamber orchestra (turKeY) Since its foundation, the Youth Chamber Orchestra of Turksoy which successfully performed common melodies of Turkic culture across the world, has enchanted its audiences in several concerts it gave not only in the Turkey but also in USA, Europe and Eurasian countries. The orchestra which gave its first concert in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey and in Istanbul, the European Capital of Culture within the framework of the First International Festival of Youth Orchestras, then participated in the International Festival of Young Artists in Bayreuth (Germany) and performed together with young talents from different countries of the world (2010). The International Youth Chamber Orchestra of Turksoy which came together with a new repertoire dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the independence of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in 2011, recorded its first CD in the studio of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Turkey under the leadership of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (Turksoy). In 2012, the International Youth Chamber Orchestra of Turksoy which gave several concerts in the USA, Europe and Eurasia, also performed with the Symphony Orchestra of Turksoy within the framework of its tour featuring the Yunus Emre Oratorio at the Lincoln Center in New York and the Strathmore Music Center in Washington DC. The musicians who gathered once again on the occasion of their tour throughout Turkey organized by Turksoy in 2013 recorded a new CD featuring a fully new repertoire dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Turksoy. east meets West Youth orchestra (irelanD) This group of 50 young musicians from counties Wicklow and Galway enjoy social, cultural and musical interaction from both ends of Ireland. Together with their tutors, they are especially interested in composing and arranging original material and they present a performance/discussion programme featuring selections of this work. Selected young students recount the group’s musical and social pathways, and their composing responses to various stimuli. Before each of the three chosen pieces they illustrate these processes though a deconstruction of the music involved. The presentation closes with an energetic performance of the final piece, ‘Eclipse’. sCo ViBe (sCotlanD, uK) SCO VIBE is a fusion orchestra led by internationally renowned animateur and guitarist Paul Griffiths, open to young musicians aged 11-18. The course is open to all singers and instrumentalists from any musical background, including classical, folk, rock and pop. SCO VIBE gives young musicians the opportunity to work with players from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and instrumental instructors. Over the course of a workshop, participants create and perform their own music with the guidance and support of professional musicians. SCO VIBE is delivered in partnership with Drake Music Scotland and City of Edinburgh Council. Repertoire: Original works devised by students and tutors. texas tech university steel Drum Band – apocalypso now (uniteD states) Texas Tech University Steel Drum Band, “Apocalypso Now” has entertained many audiences since its formation. Under the direction of Dr Lisa Rogers, this group has performed for such events as the 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001 Texas Music Educators Association Conventions; the 1998, 2000, 2006 Percussive Arts Society International Conventions; and the 2002, 2011 National Conferences on Percussion Pedagogy. The band has also performed aboard Norwegian and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as well as opened for The Beach Boys. More recent performances include the 2012 Hawaii International Conference on the Arts and the 2014 Percussive Arts Society Canada Day of Percussion. isme 2016 Closing Ceremony The 2016 Closing Ceremony is hosted by Turkey and will feature performances by Anatolian Sun and the Turksoy Youth Chamber Orchestra – an orchestra made up of young people from across the Turkic region (including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Tatarstan (RF) and Bashkortostan (RF)). The Turkish and Turkic peoples are warm and open and pride themselves on their hospitality. Istanbul is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city and the and the 2018 ISME World Conference and preconference commission seminars will be hosted in a mix of modern and historic venues. Delegates are warmly invited and encouraged to attend this wonderful event – to share in the rich cultural tapestry of Turkey and learn about the musics of the Turkic region as Glasgow passes over the ISME flag to the 2018 hosts.
