Linda Bustani
O
ne of the most important South American pianists of international projection, Linda Bustani was an original disciple of Arnaldo Estrella in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At age 15 she received an award at the International Competition Vianna da Mota, Lisbon. Having previously won the national contests of Salvador and Rio de Janeiro, Bustani was invited by Iakov Zak to work under his guidance at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, where he was also a former student under Elisso Virsaladze.
Laureate of International Competitions in Bratislava and Rio de Janeiro, Bustani effectively launched her international career with the participation in the International Competition of Leeds in England. This was followed by concerts and recitals in various countries including Portugal, Netherlands (Concertgebouw, Amsterdam), Belgium, Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia), Russia, Ukraine and Georgia (USSR), Scotland, UK, Japan, Hungary, United States and Latin America. Bustani has been a featured soloist with orchestras such as the New Philharmonia, Bournemouth Symphony, City of Birmingham Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Welsh, BBC Scottish, Hallé Symphony, Bratislava, Brazilian Symphony Orchestra (OSB), Orquestra Petrobras Pro Music (OPPM) and Orchestra Symphony of São Paulo (Osesp). She has worked with conductors that include Simon Rattle, Charles Groves, William Tausky, Anatoli Fistoulari, Louis Frémaux, Okko Kamu, Gunther Herbig, John Neschling, Isaac Karabitchevsky, Eleazar de Carvalho, Roberto Duarte, Henrique Morelenbaum Alceo Bocchino, Roberto Tibiriçá, Ligia Amadio, among others. Transforming talent and energy into music is a delicate phenomenon, and in the early 1980s Bustani began training young pianists in the search for deeper understanding of their creative individuality. Currently, she divides her time between students of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in an intense career as a soloist and chamber ensemble musician in Brazil and abroad. Bustani won the Carlos Gomes Prize in 2003 as the top pianist of the year, the most important Laurel in Brazil. In 2004 she appeared in Mexico, Morocco and England receiving rave reviews, and from 2005 to 2008 she led notable concerts in Brazil, before performing in Buenos Aires, England (Wigmore Hall) and Lebanon. A review of her latest CD by the American magazine Fanfare, released under the Connoisseur Society label in New York, stated that “the phenomenal Brazilian pianist Linda Bustani offers what is probably the most important interpretation of Schumann’s Kreisleriana.” The Pravda newspaper also expressed on their front page regarding the interpretation of Schumann, that Bustani openly “plays with the heart strings.”
Alondra de la Parra
C
onductor Alondra de la Parra has gained widespread attention for her spellbinding and vibrant performances, making her one of the most compelling conductors of her generation. She holds the distinction of being the first Mexican woman to conduct in New York City, and is an official Cultural Ambassador of Mexico. She has been heralded by Plácido Domingo as “an extraordinary conductor” and the French newspaper Le Monde stated that “there is no doubt, that with Alondra de la Parra classical music has arrived into the XXI Century.”
De la Parra’s debut recording, Mi Alma Mexicana (My Mexican Soul) with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (who she founded in 2004 when she was only 23), was released by Sony Classical in August 2010. The 2-CD set celebrates the 2010 Mexican Independence Bicentennial with 200 years of Mexican orchestral music, some of it never before commercially available. The album was among the Top 10 on the US Billboard Classical Chart, and it earned Platinum Record status in Mexico in less than two months – a first for a classical recording in Mexico in more than a decade. Just recently she recorded works by Stravinsky with the RSB Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra for her next CD release on Sony Classical. Frequently in demand as guest conductor, de la Parra has led some of the most prestigious orchestras of France, Germany, USA, Japan, Brazil, Sweden, Russia. Highlights of season 201415 include her return invitations with the RSB Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris and Milan’s Cameristi della Scala. Following this, she will have her debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Bamberg Symphony, TonhalleOrchestra Zurich, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchesra and NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo. She will conduct the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Miami Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and RTE National Symphony Orchestra. Moreover, she will be working together with Tonkünstler Orchestra and the famous German film music composer Enjott Schneider on a new CD project. In Latin America, de la Parra has led the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra and the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, the Buenos Aires Philharmonic in Argentina, Montevideo’s Philharmonic in Uruguay and Venezuela’s Simón Bolivar Youth Orchestra, from whom she received their highest award. In Mexico, she has conducted the orchestras of Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Sinaloa, Xalapa, Puebla, San Luis Potosí, Estado de México and the National Symphony. De la Parra has done multidisciplinary collaborations with different artists, such as actors Geoffrey Rush and Robert Redford, film maker Michel Gondry, choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and musicians like Gloria Estefan, Natalia Lafourcade, Gustavo Santaolalla, among others. De la Parra performs frequently with Plácido Domingo. Within the past five years alone, de la Parra has been featured on NBC’s Today Show, awarded in Crain’s New York Business as one of their “40 under 40 New York’s Rising Stars”, singled out in The Daily Beast as one of the “Young Rockstars of the Conducting World,” graced the cover of Quality, Listen, Caras, Women’s Health, Central, Quién and Warp magazines, been the subject of a major feature in The New York Times, recognized by Poder magazine as one of their “Top 20 under 40,” and named as one of six “Young Artists on the Rise” in Symphony magazine. She has received several prizes such as “Artist of the year” Gente MGM. Alondra de la Parra is represented worldwide by Tanja Dorn at IMG Artists.

Gratitude Collection Designer Lisu Vega teamed up with model and actress, Athina Klioumi and The President of Miami Fashion Spotlight, Lissette Rondon to launch the “Gratitude” collection as the prelude to the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles Tribute Concert by Miami Symphony Orchestra, on November 16, 2014 at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami. After a great success achieved by Vega with her exclusive dress showcasing the printed sheet music of “With a Little Help from My friends,” written by Eduardo Marturet, three creative minds came together this time resulting in a limited-edition collection inspired by their passion for the Beatles and the brilliant interpretations of classical music under the direction of Miami based conductor, Eduardo Marturet. Designed by Lisu Vega, the three-piece collection (entirely made in the USA) evokes an effortless haute urban knack for edgy street-wear with a luxe finish. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO).
This limited edition “Gratitude” Collection is availabe now at www.lisuvega.com.
