New Mid-Year Reports RUGBY: A reminder to all children who won a Rugby At the start of this year we installed a new Student Trophy or Cup last year to return them to the school office. Management System (SMS) called eTap. eTap allows us to more efficiently and effectively collect, collate and report CONGRATULATIONS to the players from our school student data. Teachers now have easy access to student who are part of the Te Aroha Under 13 rugby team that information. As a result of the new Student Management won the Challenge Shield last Saturday. Welcome – Nau mai, haere mai to our up-and-coming community days We have a number of exciting activities planned over the next few weeks. Matariki Tree Planting Day 27th June and The Great Family Breakfast on the 1st July. Matariki Tree Planting Day 27th June By now you should have received your invitation to our Matariki Tree Planting Day – Each family will be gifted a tree to plant in our Native Grove. We hope to see you all there, if you haven’t already, please let Jocelyn know so we can get enough sausages on the bar-b-que. If there are Mums or Dads that are available to help dig holes for our family trees from 10 am onwards on the 27th June it would be much appreciated. Tree planting will take place from 12 pm onwards with a free sausage sizzle provided for the community by the PTA at 12.30 pm.

Thank you to Miss Manktelow who prepared great way for our children to start their day. Parents are the team for this competition. Room 1: Tena Koutou, This week we have been busy finishing off some testing in preparation for the mid-year reports. The children have been doing lots of talking about Matariki and the celebration that the school is having on Monday. They have all written invitations which have been sent home this week. The children are learning how Matariki is a time to spend time with whanau, play games and have fun, share food, plant plants and trees, sing and dance and remember those people who are not with us. We have been busy working on our basic facts. We are trying to get faster and more efficient at solving problems. Have a great weekend everyone. Room 2: Kia ora whanau. Another busy week is coming to an end and once again Room Two is humming along nicely. We are looking forward to our Matariki tree planting celebration next Monday, hopefully you have all received your invitations by now and can come along to share in this experience. This week we have been learning about different addition and subtraction strategies in maths and the children have worked on adding more depth and interest to their writing. We have been practising our production songs and will start putting together our scene over the next few days. The class completed some interesting pieces of robot art and writing with Mrs Barker this week and these will be on display next week. Have a great weekend and… GO ALL BLACKS! Room 3: Kia ora tatou we have enjoyed a fantastic week of Dodge Ball. Big thanks to Damien and Lucas. This is such an epic game and really a lot of fun whilst using a number of fundamental movement skills. Who would have thought hurtling a soft ball at your opposition could be so rewarding, especially when you hit them! Player of the week would have to go to Ashton! His accurate ball throwing, dodging speed and determination saw most of us go out to him, only to be rewarded when finally someone was able to get him out. Keeping active is really important for health and wellbeing, which in turn effects our ability to learn. Have a great weekend, nga mihi nui.

CONGRATULATIONS also go to the year 7&8 Aerobics team, named the Nae Nae Crew. Claire Morris, Emma Nicholls, Teagan Garmonsway, Lily van den Heuvel, Brook Carter, Shelbie Inglis, Charlie Buckton-Dalley and Maia Wahanui won the aerobics group performance and were just out of the placings in the individual gymnastics competition at the Hamilton City Gym Sports Competition on Wednesday. Amazing result for a group of girls who are new to aerobics - what a talented group of athletes !
