Dear Colleagues and Friends. This current ITI World Symposium marks an exciting moment in the history of the International Team for Implantology. With the World Symposium in Munich, this unique organization celebrates its 25th anniversary.
It is the seventh World Symposium that the ITI has presented and the main topic will be: 25 years of ITI – Changing the Paradigms in Implant Dentistry. Featuring more than 100 clinicians and researchers from around the globe, the ITI World Symposium offers a great opportunity to share the latest knowledge about implant therapy and current research. This event will be one of the highlights in the field for the year 2005. Once again, the ITI sets the standard for years to come by communicating the state of the art in implant dentistry. Limited attendance lectures with master clinicians, a clinical forum with concepts and strategies for implant therapy, an ITI research competition, treatment planning sessions and a session focusing on esthetics in implant dentistry will round out the exciting scientific program. One of the highlights will be the presentation of the basics and clinical applications of a novel implant surface: the new modified SLA surface, called SLActive. The current event will be the first ITI World Symposium to be held in Germany. The International Congress Center in Munich (ICM) offers excellent facilities for such an outstanding meeting. It is easy to reach
and offers both state-of-the-art technology as well as a hospitable atmosphere. Each of the eight oral presentations will be 12 minutes in duration followed by 3-minutes discussion session. Abstracts for the Research Session must be prepared in English, submitted by March 31, 2005, and should include: – Full name of presenter – Full name of co-authors – Address of presenter – E-mail address of presenter – Title of presentation – Abstract (maximum 1 page in length; use Arial 12-point font) Selected presenters will be awarded Symposium access and a travel stipend. Around 5600 European and 240 intercontinental flights a week make Munich an attractive destination. Ninety airlines fly to the Bavarian capital. In the next few years, air travel between Munich and North America, Asia, Eastern and Southern Europe is expected to record particularly strong growth. Excellent domestic air links to and from Munich guarantee perfectly coordinated connecting flights to destinations worldwide. At Munich Airport, the station for urban railway lines S1 and S8 is directly below the Central Area. Trains in the direction of the city centre run at 10-minute intervals. There are three routes from the airport to the ICM: S8 / U5 / U2: S8 from the airport to Ostbahnhof. Change to underground U5 (in the direction of Neuperlach Süd) to Innsbrucker Ring (next station). Change to U2 to the trade fair grounds – Messestadt West. Journey time: approx. 46 minutes. Route S8 / U2: S8 from the airport to Munich Central Station (Hauptbahnhof ). Change to underground U2 which takes you directly to the trade fair grounds – Messestadt West. Journey time: approx. 60 minutes.

If you want to take a taxi from the airport to the ICM, you will find plenty of taxis in front of the terminals. The journey takes about 35 minutes, depending on the volume of traffic. If you want to take a taxi from the ICM to the airport (Central Building), you will find taxi ranks in front of the ICM. Messe München and the Munich taxi companies have agreed on a fixed fare of ¤ 48 throughout the year.

Car rental.
By hire car from the airport to the New Munich Trade Fair Centre/ICM. All the major car rental firms are represented at Munich Airport. The Car Rental Centre with its own parking facilities is in front of module A, to the north of car park P6. If you hire a car, you should take the following route: From Munich Airport follow the signs “Messe/ICM” on the A92 in the direction of Munich to the motorway intersection Eching/Neufahrn. Then take the A9 in the direction of Munich to the motorway intersection München-Nord. Continue on the motorway ringroad A99 in the direction of Salzburg to the motorway intersection München-Ost. Then take the A94 in the direction of Munich to the exit Feldkirchen-West or München-Riem. The journey takes about 35 minutes, depending on the traffic.

Comfortable, fast, safe and environment-friendly. The railway brings you right into the city centre. The trade fair grounds are about 20 minutes from Munich Central Station (Hauptbahnhof ) by underground or taxi. At Munich Central Station you can take the underground U2. Please register early for the ITI World Symposium 2005. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. All cancellations must be submitted in writing to the Registration office. Cancellation requests, postmarked, faxed or emailed on or before April 30, 2005 will be refunded with the full tuition minus ¤100 administration fee. Cancellations received after April 30, 2005 cannot be refunded. “No-shows” will not qualify for refunds. We recommend that you do not rely on the on-site registration since experience shows that the event is normally sold out. We will offer a simultaneous translation service from English into German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Russian. However, please note that on the second day of the event all parallel sessions will be translated into German respectively English. This cannot be assured for the other languages. The “Limited Attendance Sessions” will not be translated at all.
How do I reserve my room? What else has to be considered? Payment, Changes in Reservation and Cancellations.
When filling out the registration form, please indicate which room category you prefer. The hotels will be assigned by the administration and guaranteed bookings accordingly confirmed. All reservations will be processed on a first-come, firstserved basis. If one or several classes are booked up, then we will make a possible up- or down-grade and will likewise confirm this. Please consider that making direct reservations at the hotel could cause difficulties. The Congress organizers have booked large block reservations. You will not be able to take advantage of the special congress room rate. The room rate includes breakfast, service and taxes. The bill has to be paid directly at the hotel prior to departure. Cancellations have to be communicated in writing to the Registration Office and are free of charge until May 5, 2005 (exceptions please see the congress website). If a pre-payment has already been made the amount paid will be refunded with a deduction in the amount of ¤ 15. Please note that the hotel reserves the right to charge any cancellation and/or change of your booking (also late arrival/early departure) after this date with a cancellation fee of up to 100%.
