Wie in der Ausgabe 445 der Griechenland-Zeitung vom 03.09.2014 zu lesen ist, will sich das Naturkundemuseum des Versteinerten Waldes www.lesvosmuseum.gr/site/home/ws.csp?loc=de_DE von Sigri auf Lesbos um einen Platz auf der UNESCOListe des Weltkulturerbes bemühen. Der versteinerte Wald entstand vor ca 20 Mio. Jahren, nachdem der Wald von Vulkanasche bedeckt wurde. Erosion legte versteinerte Baumstämme mit ihren marmorartigen Farbnuancen nach und nach frei. Seit 2012 ist die gesamte Insel bereits als UNESCO Geopark anerkannt.

As written in edition no 445 of Griechenland-Zeitung, 2014, Sep 3, the Museum of Natural Science of the Petrified Forest www.lesvosmuseum.gr/site/home/ws.csp?loc=en_US in Sigri on Lesvos tries to get a place on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage. The Petrified Forest arised 20 mio years ago, after the forest has been covered by volcanic ash. Erosion excavated by and by petrified tree trunks with their marble like shades. Since 2012, the entire island is already accepted as UNESCO Geopark.

Aus dem 3. Jahrhundert stammt das Hirtenmärchen „Daphnis & Chloe“. Longos schrieb die LiebesGeschichte als ein Weihgeschenk für Eros, die Nymphen und Pan und zur Freude der Menschen. Sie spielt mutmaßlich hauptsächlich in Lesbos‘ Inselmitte und erwähnt auch die durchaus kriegerische Rivalität zwischen Mythelini und Mithimna. Diese Rivalität ist auch heute noch zu spüren und zeigt sich z.B. in der Verhinderungstaktik der Hauptstadt Mythelini, den Hafen in Petra (zu Mithimna gehörig) endlich in Betrieb nehmen zu können.

From the 3. Century originates the shepherd fairytale “Daphnes & Chloe”. Longos has written the lovestory as a dedication to Eros, the nymphes and to Pan and as pleasure for the people. Presumably, the story is located mainly in the middle of the island of Lesvos and also the martial rivalty between Mythelini and Mithimna is mentioned. Even nowadays, this rivalty is still visibly f.e. in the prevention policy of the capital city Mythelini, to finally start running the harbor of Petra (belonging to Mithimna area).

Der “Katselemonas Olivenhain“ liegt im Norden der Insel Lesvos und seine kleinasiatische „ADRIAMITINI“ Olive liefert 2012/13: „ein ausgewogenes, eher süßes Öl mit einem Flavour nach Blüten und frischer Tomate, am Gaumen ein frischer, dauerhafter Mandelton, zartes Zitrus und einen leicht pikanten Abgang“.

The “Katselemonas Olive Grove“ is located in the North of the Island of Lesvos and it’s Asia Minor olive „ADRIAMITINI“ delivers in 2012/13: „a balanced, rather sweet oil with a flavor of blossoms and fresh tomato, at the palatine a fresh, lasting almond taste, tender lemon and a slight spicy leaving.”

Im Süden der Insel Lesvos liegt der Hain der Familie “Barrelis“ mit seiner einzig auf Lesvos wachsenden Olivensorte „KOLOVI“.

In the South of the Island of Lesvos, you find the olive grove of the family “Barrelis” with it’s only on Lesvos growing olive sort “KOLOVI”.

2012/13: „Sie ergibt ein sehr schönes, im Geschmack sehr klares, sauberes Olivenöl mit intensiven frischen Aromen nach exotischen Früchten, frischen Blüten, Citrus und zart reifen Äpfeln. Dazu ein zartes Grün nach frischen Salatblättern...“

2012/13: „She produces a very nice, in it’s taste very clear, pure olive oil with intensive flavors of exotic fruit, fresh blossoms, lemon and tender ripe apples. Furthermore, a tender green of fresh lettuce leafs ...“

2013/14: „… at the nose, tender green and rich of blossoms, flavors of fresh lettuce leafs and herbs, a little parsley. ... a slight, rather sweet almond taste and ... little bitter. All in all a smooth velvety, discreet aromatic oil, with yet a slight fresh sharpness in the leaving.”
