Rico Mahel ist am 20.Mai 1989 in Güstrow geboren und in Berlin aufgewachsen. Bevor er sich gänzlich dem Film widmete, absolvierte er von 2008 bis 2011 eine Ausbildung zum Fotodesigner am Lette Verein Berlin. 2011 erhielt Rico Mahel den Fotografiepreis (Anerkennung) vom OPUS Kulturmagazin für seine fotografische Arbeit „Soma“. Noch während seiner Ausbildung zum Fotodesigner begann er erste Filmprojekte (hauptsächlich fiktional) zu realisieren. Seit 2011 studiert er Regie an der Deutschen Filmund Fernsehakademie Berlin dffb.
Biography
Rico Mahel was born May 20st 1989 in Güstrow, Germany und grew up in Berlin. Before entirely devoting himself to film, he completed an apprenticeship for photo design from 2008 to 2011 at Lette Verein Berlin. 2011, Rico Mahel received the photography price (appreciation) from OPUS Kulturmagazin for his work “Soma”. Still in his apprenticeship for photo design, he began to realize his first (mainly fictional) film projects. Since 2011, he studies Directing at German Film- and Television Academy Berlin dffb.
