he Chamber of Commerce is a catalyst--a common vehicle through which businesses and professional people work together for the common good of the community. In any community, it is from the profitable operations of business that all other benefits are derived. Only by succeeding in this fundamental goal can we provide the jobs and produce the wealth to finance the civic, educational, cultural and charitable needs that our community is faced with every day. This means we must do the job needed. Who is the “we” that does this job? We are you. The Chamber member and all of your business and professional friends who are also Chamber members. You are the Chamber of Commerce. You provide the ideas, the drive, the goals, the funds and the voluntary services to keep the Chamber doing what it does. You are the Chamber. We need the confidence that it can be done in our community, state and nation. We need to be available to do it, and if we can, and if we do, we will be accountable to the coming generations who will be the true judges of what we do today. Thank you for what you have done today and for what you will do tomorrow. At the heart of the local economy and the backbone of the nation’s economy, you’ll find a chamber of commerce. All are united in a common Chamber mission: to be the motivating force in coordinating, leading, and promoting business development, economic diversity, and tourism, while enhancing the quality of life and the natural resources of the area through community involvement, recognition, and pride.

A committee system is the most effective means of harnessing energies and abilities of volunteer workers. Committees are appointed by the President of the Board to deal with major activities or areas of concern. Committees include Air Show, Dogwood Festival; Budget and Finance; Member Services; Christmas on the Square; Leadership Camden County; EXPO-Products and Services Show and Nominating. In addition, ad hoc committees or task forces are appointed as needed.
The Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce launched a redesigned, user-friendly site in November 2013. The functionality and accessible to information at the site enhances the membership and community through technology, 24/7.

The Chamber is financed primarily by the investment of its members and by special projects, such as the annual EXPO and other events. Many of the programs that benefit a specific segment of the community are selffunded.

A Board of Directors is the policy-making body of the Chamber of Commerce. The Board establishes the annual budget, develops positions on key issues, and has fiduciary responsibility in overseeing the operation of the Chamber. The Board consists of fifteen directors elected by the membership. To insure continuity, five directors are elected each year for a three-year term. The Board elects its officers on an annual basis.

RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS The Camdenton Chamber of Commerce is a member of the Lake of the Ozarks Regional Economic Development Council, Adopt-A-Shoreline Advisory Board, Lake of the Ozarks Water Safety Council, Camdenton R-III Education Foundation, Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and ACCE-American Chamber of Commerce Executives. Close ties are maintained with other chambers in the area, the Lake of the Ozarks Convention and Visitor Bureau, University of Missouri Extension of Camden County, Service Core Of Retired Executives (SCORE) and the Tri-County Lodging Association. The Lake Area, Lake West and Camdenton Area Chambers of Commerce are continuing to collaborate on a number of initiatives on behalf of the business community
2013-2014 OUTGOING PRESIDENT’S REPORT COREY LEUWERKE It has been an honor and learning experience to have served as the President of the Camdenton Area Chamber Board of Directors. I will continue to serve as the Executive Advisor for one more year however this will be the end of my three year term on the Board of Directors and proud to say we have a great team leading the chamber forward. I have watched our chamber get more involved with the Camdenton and Lake community more every year in my last three years. Your chamber works closely with the city in economic development and community events. We have partnered with our school, other chambers, CVB, and Tri County Lodging in bringing people to our community and making it a better place to live. I want to personally thank all the these groups and every business who has participated or sponsored a chamber event. We have been through a transition as the chamber has implemented its tiered membership. Overall it has been a smooth transition. The tiered

program gives members more benefits for their money and lessens staff work load. I appreciate everyone’s involvement and support in this process. I have learned a lot over the last three years. The number one lesson for me was how much better a chamber or community can be when people give their time. We live in a great community and many people continue to work tirelessly to make it better. The chamber would not be here without volunteers. Our community would not be the great place it is without people volunteering their time to our kids at school and various civic organizations. To everyone who has ever volunteered. Thank you! I especially want to thank my fellow board members outgoing and incoming for a great three years and look forward to serving with you as we continue to serve our chamber and community.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Over 19 Years, 466 Graduate from LEADERSHIP Camden County Twenty-two participants of Class 19 of the LEADERSHIP Camden County program were recognized at a graduation banquet held May 21st at The Banquet Room at Old Kinderhook. During the 9-month program, participants had an opportunity to learn about a number of aspects of the community, including: history and natural resources; state government; social services; health care and education; economic development and tourism; law enforcement and the legal system; and infrastructure. Several sessions focused on leadership skills, group dynamics, team building, and creating a vision for the future. A total of 466 people have graduated from the program over the last nineteen years. Currently, 30 participants are registered in the program as part of Class 20 that started in September 2014 and will conclude in May 2015.
SPEED LEADS – ULTIMATE NETWORKING LUNCHEON A unique twist to networking has been Speed Leads where chamber members share the good news about their business in a fast-paced luncheon. Thirty-two members participated in this one-of-a-kind networking session meeting other business professionals in the Lake area. It was a loud and high energy atmosphere. Thanks to everyone who participated and to Lake Valley Country Club for hosting our event.

2013 CAN DO CHALLENGE HELPED THOSE IN NEED IN THE LAKE AREA First Baptist Church and Old Kinderhook Home Owners Association took 1st place in the 10th Annual Can Do Challenge. The can goods collected from First Baptist Church and Old Kinderhook Homeowners Association added to the grand total of 24,738 cans collected for the LAMB House. The LAMB House is an emergency food pantry, helping those in need on a monthly basis who cannot get food stamps. This annual event has grown in contributions thanks to the area churches, clubs and organizations and businesses each year. First place winners from each category receives a traveling trophy and plaque that is displayed though out the year. This event is sponsored by the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce.
LAKE LEGISLATIVE RECEPTION FOCUSES ON 2014 LEGISLATIVE SESSION AND LAKE AREA HAPPENINGS The Lake Area, Camdenton, Lake West, Eldon & Versailles Chambers along with Tri-County Lodging Association and the Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted the 2014 Legislative Reception on January 9th at Tan-Tar-A. The Lake Area Legislative Reception is an annual event that provides an opportunity for respective boards to meet Lake Area elected officials and exchange information and address issues pertaining to the Lake of the Ozarks region.
CAMDENTON CHAMBER ANNUAL DINNER A FEATURE PRESENTATION FOR 2014 The annual Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce dinner was held on November 14, 2013 in the Crystal Ballroom at Tan-Tar-A. The attendance grew by 62% from the previous year and featured the unveiling of the new logo, website redesign and tiered benefits program. Master of ceremonies, Matt Hamner entertained attendees while presenting sponsor plaques and awards. Outgoing President, Johna Stanfield presented outgoing board member plaques. Incoming President, Corey Leuwerke presented the Outgoing President’s plaque to Johna Stanfield and outlined his platform to serve the members in 2014 through collaboration. A movie music montage was provided by LakeoftheOzarksRadio.com and a community video premiered by Lake TV.

1ST ANNUAL COMMUNITY DEBATE SPONSORED BY CAMDENTON CHAMBER IN DECEMBER The Camdenton High School Debate Team presented arguments on water safety as part of the 1st Annual Community Debate. The students researched information on this local issue and how it impacts our community. Students presented compelling cases that were judged by representatives from area business and organizations. This opportunity provided a format for students to further enhance their public speaking and debate skills while addressing a Lake area subject for community members that attended.
TOURISM PROMOTION AND INFORMATION CENTER The Chamber of Commerce serves as a resource for people planning to visit the Lake of the Ozarks area. To help promote the Camdenton area, the Chamber had several pages promoting the Camdenton area in the Convention & Visitor Bureau’s Lake Life and Vacation guides (combined circulation: 185,000); produced and distributed a self-guided auto-tour brochure; and received over 2,000 requests for information on the Internet and on its 800-number. In addition to tourism information requests, the Chamber responds to hundreds of requests for residential and business relocation information.

CHRISTMAS ON THE SQUARE DRAWS HUNDREDS TO ENJOY THE FESTIVITIES Hundreds of children and their families turned out for Christmas on the Square however the weather moved the event into the Camdenton Middle School. Games, entertainment, story time, children’s choirs, cookies, hotdogs, and hot chocolate helped pass the time until Santa arrived by fire truck. Mark your calendar of Saturday, December 6th for the return of Santa Claus and Christmas on the Square.
2014 LAKE AREA BUSINESS CONFERENCE The 2014 Lake Area Business Conference was held in March in which eighty business owners and employees attended at Tan-Tar-A Resort. Through a partnership with the University Extension, area chambers, CVB, Tri-County Lodging Association, SCORE and Professional Business Women, the one day conference highlighted business issues from technology and customer service to regulatory topics and business planning.
SHORELINE CLEAN-UP WEIGHS IN WITH 25 TONS DURING SPRING CLEANUP The Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce has been an active participant in the annual Shoreline Clean Up for the last twenty-three years. The Camdenton Chamber of Commerce volunteers and Horizon students have contributed to the overall 641 cubic yards of trash and debris during the Spring 2014 cleanup. Adopt-theShoreline began in 1994 with nine civic clubs adopting 89 miles of shoreline. Today, it has grown to include more than 90 businesses, organizations and individual property owners, who have adopted more than 700 miles of shoreline between Bagnell Dam and Truman Dam. A special thanks to Ameren Missouri for coordinating the adopt-a-shoreline program as well as the Spring and Fall clean-up.

FIRST YEAR PARTICIPANT IN SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
CAMDENTON AREA CHAMBER EGGS & ISSUES FEATURES TOM SCHWEICH, STATE AUDITOR The first of six Eggs and Issues Breakfast Meetings was held on Tuesday, January 28th hosted by the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce at Lake Valley Country Club. Special guest speaker was Tom Schweich, State Auditor. A noted financial author and commentator, Schweich was one of the few to forecast the current fiscal crisis and shared his financial principles he carries on the job as Missouri State Auditor. Special Thanks to the Camden County Development Disability Resources for sponsoring the program. In May, the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group (LANEG) comprised of the Missouri Highway Patrol, Camden County Sheriff’s Office and Camdenton Police Department shared information on drug addiction and the trends and how LANEG is addressing the issue at the Lake of the Ozarks. Special Thanks to Central Bank of Lake of the Ozarks for sponsoring the program.
Small Business Saturday was created in 2010 in response to small business owners’ most pressing need: more customers. Falling between Cyber Monday and Black Friday, it’s a day to support the local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy and preserve neighborhoods around the country. It has since become a nation-wide, well-known celebrated event cemented on the national calendar with support from major corporations, elected officials, public and private organizations and millions of Facebook users. In 2013, the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce along with many area businesses participated in the Small Business Saturday which resulted in an increase of over 10% in sales tax revenues for the month of November.

COLLABORATION CONTINUES BETWEEN CAMDENTON, LAKE AREA AND LAKE WEST CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (LOREDC) CONTINUES TO PROMOTE AND DEVELOP TRI-COUNTY BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY. Business and Community Leaders met on January 23rd at the Country Club Hotel for the annual meeting of the Lake of the Ozarks Regional Economic Development Council (LOREDC). The annual meeting included the presentation of the 2013 LOREDC Business Awards, community reports, Quality of Labor Study update and the nomination of board members. The Quality of Labor Study and Demographic Snapshot Profile can be viewed at the www.loredc.com.

The Boards of Directors of the Camdenton, Lake Area and Lake West Chambers of Commerce met on February 27th to further discussion ideas to work together on joint endeavors for the betterment of the chamber membership and the Lake area business community. The half-day session included a review of current joint efforts and the opportunities for future collaboration with the areas of concentration. In 2014, the three chambers proactively collaborating on the following: • Joint Legislative Reception held in January • Joint Community Profile and Business Directory • Collaborative events website: www.lakehappens.com • Six Eggs and Issues Breakfast meetings with two being held in each area throughout the year: • Three joint chamber networking socials in March, August and November • Two Speed Leads Luncheons • Official Lake of the Ozarks Map • Google Ad word campaign • Joint event brochure for chamber office and tourist information centers • A joint marketing booth at the Overland Park Boat Show and St Charles Sport Show. The Chamber Collaborative Task Force was created as the result of a membership survey taken in May 2011 in which collaboration was a common theme throughout the survey.
64TH ANNUAL DOGWOOD FESTIVAL “CROSSROADS TO THE LAKE” The 64th Annual Dogwood Festival took place in various locations in and around Camdenton, April 24-26, 2014. Started in 1950, the festival has become a Lake tradition. The theme for the 2014 Dogwood Festival was “Crossroads to the Lake” and the Grand Marshalls were Ralph and Vicki Franklin, longtime community leaders and residents. LAKE OF THE OZARKS AIR SHOW DRAWS THOUSANDS TO CAMDENTON MEMORIAL AIRPORT
EXPO 2014 – 35th Annual Products & Services Show was held March 8th and 9th at Country Club Hotel in Lake Ozark. Over 143 exhibitors filled 172 booths for the two-day show with an estimated 4800 people in attendance [3900 people through the show on Saturday, 900 on Sunday plus 292 people staffing the booths. Thanks to the exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers and all those that attended this annual event. Mark your calendar of EXPO 2015 which has been scheduled for February 28th and March 1, 2015 at the Country Club Hotel.
The 2014 Lake of the Ozarks Air Show was a day to experience aviation history and jam packed excitement from aerial acrobats to interactive displays. Thousands enjoyed the festivities to salute our military from the B-25 flights and the Camdenton football game flyover to the opening military salute and full schedule of Air Show acts. CHAMBER LAUNCHES VALUE-ADDED MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE In 2014, the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce launched a tiered membership structure which allows members to maximize their chamber membership through value-added benefits and services. Plus, the Member Services Committee continues to explore additional member programs with the goal of the providing the best ROI – Return On Investment for members. CHAMBER NETWORKING SOCIALS One of the “traditional” services most Chambers provide is an opportunity for social networking. In 2013-2014, business networking was done throughout the Camdenton region. LAKE OF THE OZARKS WALK/ RUN FOR THE FALLEN Lake of the Ozarks Walk/ Run For The Fallen Show Support For National “RUN FOR THE FALLEN” 188 Walkers/Runners Contributed 360 miles For Missouri Fallen Soldiers
A Record Attendance Camdenton, MO – In coordination with the national tribute memorial run, “Run for the Fallen,” Lake of the Ozarks hosted the 5th annual walk/run in support at the Camdenton Middle School Theater. The Lake of the Ozarks Run/Walk for the Fallen honored our American heroes from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn The miles at this event will be pledged towards a national total of miles for all fallen service members. In addition to honoring all military men and women of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, the Lake of the Ozarks Walk/Run For The Fallen paid special tribute to the 142 Missouri fallen soldiers. The 188 walkers/runners attending each wore a runner’s bid with the name of a Missouri fallen soldier.
CAMDENTON CHAMBER PARTICIPATES IN THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS WATER SAFETY DAY IN PAINTING THE TOWN ORANGE AND WEAR YOUR LIFEJACKET TO WORK DAY ON MAY 16TH FOR LIFEJACKET AWARENESS. The Lake of the Ozarks Water Safety Council announced their first Water Safety Day on April 4, 2014. Camdenton Chamber along with community leaders and volunteers spent the day promoting a safe lake, focusing on the importance of having a sober captain and the use of life jackets. Teams distributed Designated Captain material to the restaurants involved in the program. A map showing their locations and a key chain. Any captain of a boat who shows the key chain at one of the participating restaurants will receive a free non-alcoholic drink. Additional teams painted bright orange stencils “Life Jacket Zone” on various ramps and walkways around the lake to serve as a reminder to boaters to wear their life jackets. Business owners, employees, customers and visitors demonstrated how easy it is to wear a life jacket – even at work during the National Safe Boating Week promotion of “Wear Your Life Jacket To Work Day” on Friday, May 16.

Three Gold Star Families attended honoring their fallen loved one: Spc Joshua Neusche, Lance Corporal Matthew Pathenos and Lance Corporal (LCPL) Drew W. Weaver. A special thanks to the Camdenton School District, Shawn C and Gemma, City of Camdenton, , Camdenton Fire Department, Flags for Freedom and everyone who participated and supported this event and the Gold Star Families. Run for the Fallen began as a cross-country memorial run that took place during the summer of 2008 that ran one mile for every soldier killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The team ran in a relay style, spanning over 4,000 miles from Painted Rocks in California to Arlington National Cemetery. Runners marked each mile of their cross-country journey with an American flag and personalized sign card in honor of every fallen service member. Jon Bellona, director and founder of Run for the Fallen, developed the idea for the run when his best friend and Hamilton College roommate, 1st Lt. Michael J. Cleary, was killed in Iraq in December 2005.

The Camdenton Chamber of Commerce partnered with Lake Media to present two candidate forums; one for candidates for Camden County Presiding Commissioner and one for candidates for Candidates for Prosecuting Attorney. The informative program featured a question and answer session that was well attended by residents of the area. MICHELLE COOK Thank you for asking me to serve your Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce in this role. I look forward to working with the staff, the Board of Directors, the membership as well as other community organizations in continuing to move the Camdenton Chamber forward with the programs in place to benefit members businesses. I want to continue to help members understand and embrace the tiered membership program to their benefit. As our community continues to transform our Chamber must be proactive in meeting the ever changing needs of our businesses. Working together and volunteering our time to make our local business community stronger, will only make the Camdenton Area and Lake of the Ozarks a more viable year round thriving destination to live, work and play. I would like to thank the outgoing Board Members Tim Hatfield, Dale Lear, Andrew Lyskowski and Jacque Samuelson for their time and service. Welcome to the incoming board members – we look forward to working with you in the upcoming year.
I am honored to represent the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce and our wonderful community. It is with much appreciation I thank the Chamber Board, our dedicated members, and bighearted volunteers for their dedication of time and energy and support to the Chamber in 2014. There is much to be proud of as we reflect on the 20132014 Chamber year. A year of rebranding with the launching of the newly redesigned logo and website along with the value-added membership structure has been tremendously well received and continues to gain momentum as the member services committee creates opportunities and programs to continue serving the members and the community.
